THE
gray (gris) cashmere and silk wool flannel turtleneck mini dress is an arresting sight, thanks to the bangles affixed to it.

What an engaging pair is the silk gazar tweed shirt and noir loro piana super 170s wool belted trench jacket to which it is attached. In particular the sleeve, which is half wool and gazar tweed.

Brilliant, gorgeous, sumptuous is the rouge (red) double-faced wool crepe cardigan jacket bordered with black Chantilly lace and red double-faced wool crepe slip dress lined with black Chantilly lace. A vision, really.

One can keep going in this vein, describing the Zang Toi FW2016 collection. His lady is always jetsetting, and ZT always dresses her to the nines, tens, elevens and twelves.
For this latest season, she is off to the French Alps, specifically to the ski resort of Courchevil 1850, hence the name of the show “Courchevil Chic.”

Commonly called “St. Tropez of winter sports,” Courcevil 1850 is part of The Three Valleys (Les Trois Vallees), reportedly the largest interconnected ski area in the world. It is also a playground of royals, Russians, Ritchies, billionaires, Beckhams, Saudis, sultans and other well-situated folk

Of course, where the wealthy congregate it is a fashion show, specifically for the women in the set. To that end, one can make an impression if there is any opera in town in the red couture silk ottoman silver screen star gown with handbeaded illusion and red ostrich feather glamorous stole. And one would be an absolute showstopper. A devilish angel in a red dress.

Or she can set tongues awagging in the red hand-loomed wool and rayon sheath dress with a black handbeaded Chantilly lace illusion front.

One can keep going this vein, but you get the picture, non?

In Courchevel, jetsetter will be the subject of envy if she allows ZT to dress her.

Small Boutique Fashion Week Opens for Season

BASEBALL has the minor leagues. Football has stadium contests; ditto for tennis. So it is not surprising that Fashion Week has its version(s) of the minor leagues

One of the newest is Small Boutique Fashion Week (SBFW). Actually, it is a day of shows broken into three time blocks – noon, 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.

It attracts emerging, fledgling and novelty designers of adult and children’s wear who show their wares directly to small and independent boutiques.

Yesterday’s 4 p.m. session revealed an extremely mixed bag of show. A couple are just a few steps away from the big leagues, however. Ditto for the models, including some of the little ones.

In its four years, SBFW has attracted major press, including Lucky Magazine, CBS and Forbes. Other major players were in the house yesterday.
According to organizers Michael Kors, Tracy Reese and Steve Madden have made debuts at SBFW.

Not bad for a tradeshow that bills itself as “fashion’s biggest event open to the public.”
